Tim He joined Northzone in 2013, straight out of Harvard Business School, where he cemented his passion for investing in technology. It was at Harvard that Tim discovered how to combine his finance skills, gained working on M&A deals at Merrill Lynch and assessing risk at the Danish Central Bank, with his passion for building businesses that have the potential to affect tomorrow.
Tim’s moment of realisation came whilst he took on the grand task of launching Gaopeng, Groupon’s joint venture in China together with Tencent. Within 8 months, Tim and his team set up a full operation and expanded the business to 77 cities across China. When it comes to execution, in other words, Tim believes in walking the walk.
“What we did at Gaopeng really displayed the power behind having the right vision and assembling the right team – it enabled us to move at an unprecedented speed, allowing us to execute faster and better than our competitors”, Tim adds.
At Northzone Tim’s focus is on discovering new talent and businesses that can scale fast. Tim brings his “pedal to the metal” mindset to investments where the teams choose drive and dedication to transform ideas into real businesses.
Tim holds a BSc in Economics from Copenhagen University, an MSc in Financial Economics from Said Business School at Oxford University, and is a Harvard Business School graduate, class of 2013. Tim is fluent in Danish, Mandarin, and English.
